WRITTEN LITERATURE CLASSIFICATION
Written literature refers to the type of literature which is represented through written script or writings.
1. PROSE NOVEL Is a long narrative story which is written or arranged in chapters
2. A novel is an extended fiction prose, narrative of a considerable length in which characters and actions as representatives of real life, it is portrayed in a plot of more less complexity.
FEATURES OF A NOVEL
a) It is featured by fictive narrations.
b) It uses characters who are doers of actions or who the story revolves around them.
c) It is written in a considerable length than other genre of literature
d) It is written in a narrative form.
e) The novel has divided into chapters
SHORT STORIES is a prose narrative which is brief than a short novel, covering a length of twenty or thirty pages, restricted in number of characters and normally deals with one major event/topic.
TYPES OF NOVELS
SOCIAL NOVELS - Is a type of novel that focuses on behavior of characters. It shows how characters action reflected in a literary work. It focuses on values of society I.e social issues
PSYCHOLOGICAL NOVELS - It focuses on psychological effects/problems, it intends to observe the inner self of a character. Mainly it is used to talk on personal conflict.
EDUCATIONAL NOVEL - This refers to the novel which describes stages in the life of the main characters and the main purpose is to educate or to learn something from the growth or development of the character from early to maturity. Example passed like a shadow by Mapalala
PHILOSOPHICAL NOVEL - It intends to attempt philosophical problem, normally it maintained the doctrine if a certain class of people it questions of freedom and the value of human effort and wisdom that is a central to a certain society.
POPULAR NOVEL - It is central for entertainment
HISTORICAL NOVEL - It gives the history of the certain society. It also documents on issues that is memorable to a certain society.
ROMANTIC NOVEL is love oriented novel
